What Are Neuromodulators?
Neuromodulators use botulinum toxin to temporarily slow the underlying muscle activity that leads to frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead creases, and lines that develop as a result of the facial movements and expressions we make every day. Once we’ve injected a neuromodulator, patients enjoy smoother, younger-looking skin for three to four months. The neuromodulators we use are Botox and Dysport.
Botox
Botox, which is one of the best-known neuromodulators, can be used to treat many different types of lines and wrinkles. It takes about 10 minutes to perform Botox injections, and patients usually begin to see noticeable improvement within two to four days.
Dysport
Dysport is particularly effective at treating the frown lines between the eyebrows. Dysport also takes roughly 10 minutes to inject, and patients begin to see improvement within two to four days.
We’ll spend a few minutes mapping out where on your skin we’ll perform the injections, which are administered with tiny needles. You may feel a series of quick pricks, or possibly nothing at all, as we perform the injections. The entire appointment can be performed in less than 30 minutes, making it an ideal lunchtime treatment, and you’ll be able to get right back to your regular schedule afterward.
If possible, you should refrain from rubbing or massaging the treated area for several hours. Avoiding cosmetics in the treatment area is also a good idea. We recommend that you avoid strenuous exercise and excessive alcohol consumption during the first 24 hours after your appointment.
There isn’t one perfect age to begin Botox or Dysport injections. Many patients start scheduling these treatments in their thirties or forties when the first signs of aging start to become a concern. Some patients in their twenties also receive the injections as a way of postponing the onset of lines and wrinkles. Older patients may also benefit from treatment.
Most patients schedule follow-up injections every three to four months, which is when their results start to wear off. But each person is different. The best strategy is to schedule a follow-up appointment when you start to feel the muscles in the treatment area beginning to move again.

The best patients are in good overall physical and emotional health and are not pregnant. Your skin should also be healthy.
