Before starting your therapy session, there’s a brief consultation that allows us to ensure that this is the right treatment for you.
We’ll first want to know about any symptoms that you might be experiencing from a hormonal imbalance, and we’ll discuss this treatment with you to answer any remaining questions you might have about it.
We’ll also want to draw your blood so that we can run a diagnostic blood panel to check your hormonal levels, which will then be assessed along with your symptoms to look for any correlations that might explain why you’ve been feeling off or having issues. If you’re currently taking any other hormone replacement medications, you’ll need to stop taking these on the day that we draw your blood, though you can resume them afterward as you transition off them.
To start your therapy session, we will numb the treatment area with an anesthetic, which is typically an area near the upper buttocks or lower abdomen. This is mainly to ensure that you’re comfortable, though you won’t have to worry about feeling any significant pain during treatment, as it’s normally a painless process.
Next, we’ll insert the pellet, which only takes a few minutes, at which point, we’ll apply a small bandage to the area. The entire process itself usually takes less than 15 minutes from start to finish.
One of the many benefits of this therapy is that there’s no downtime and a minimal recovery period, though we’ll recommend that you stick to light activities for the first few days after treatment. Because the applied bandage will need to stay in place for optimal healing, we’ll also recommend that you shower instead of taking a bath during this period and avoid swimming as well.
